In a celebratory spirit of internationalism and creativity, the inaugural Made in Scotland Festival will take place in Brussels, Belgium this June with a programme of classic Fringe performances.

The dance, music and theatre performances – drawn from previous Made in Scotland showcases at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe – will take place in six iconic venues in Brussels from 11 – 14 June. All performances will be free of charge.

The shows comprising the Made in Scotland Festival programme are:
(I Could Go On Singing) Over The Rainbow – A loud yet loving interactive experience of undivided attention and intimacy from performance artist FK Alexander, with live accompaniment from Glasgow-based noise band Okishima Island Tourist Association.

Douglas – Robbie Synge choreographs a dance piece centring on several simple objects found in the theatre space, exploring the body’s connections with our physical surroundings.

Dancer – With music ranging from Kylie Minogue to Nick Cave, Ian Johnson, Scotland’s leading learning-disabled artist, and Gary Gardiner hit the dancefloor in this production by 21Common.

The Gospel According to Jesus Queen of Heaven – Playwright Jo Clifford writes and performs a combination of theatre, storytelling, spoken word and unique ritual in a way that, according to one audience member, ‘leaves everyone feeling blessed’.

Letters for Peace – Inspired by the stories of conscientious objectors who refused to fight during the First World War, composer and guitarist Graeme Stephen weaves together music, spoken word and image to engage with the public perception of war.

The Tailor of Inverness – A story of displacement and survival in war-torn Europe, presented by Dogstar Theatre Company, that acts as an allegory for all victims of war.
