Overview

The Astrid String Quartet will perform five quintets in five days, with five special guests. This ambitious project features major works by Elgar, Dvo?ák, Brahms, Schubert, and world premieres by Richard Greer and Claire McCue.

A collaboration with distinguished cellist William Conway opens the series, and it concludes with illustrious pianist Scott Mitchell.  Also showcased are exciting young talents: clarinettist Calum Robertson and double bassist Stewart Wilson.  Prodigious trombonist Dávur Juul Magnussen joins the quartet to premier two new works specially commissioned for this event.

Schubert: String Quintet in C major with William Conway

Tuesday 13th August
Brahms : Clarinet Quintet in B minor with Calum Robertson

Wednesday 14th August
World premieres by Claire McCue and Richard Greer with Dávur Juul Magnussen

Thursday 15th August
Dvo?ák : Double Bass Quintet in G major with Stewart Wilson

Friday 16th August
Elgar : Piano Quintet in A minor with Scott Mitchell
